our 10 days escape to "lah" "lah" land :)

was back home in singapore from the 1st to the 10th. i must say that i finally missed home, food, friends, family and just simple convenience and quiet conversations with girlfriends and spending quality time with my hubby (legally married on the 8th Sept'06! hee hee) and catching up on lots of sleep! the humidity however was something else! everytime i walked out of the house or after a shower i feel like we have been hit by a heatwave! i would have love to thrown on a bikini and skirt and saunter down town and you wouldn't think it's anything wrong but i just felt inappropriate to be scantily clad back home haha.... do my parents mind? nah i dont think so. it's just me and how put one and one together lah...

my mum greeted us with a table of homecooked food when we got home the first night. we ate so much the 10 days i am trying to remember what we had! i definitely remember the "lin gao tong" (cantonese herbal soup), big plate of char-siew for graeme, tofu and peppers stuffed with mincemeat (we call it "yong tau fu" in singapore) and on other night, she made beef rendang (my favourite!), duck stew which she started cooking since morning which made graeme changed his mind about duck finally! different vege dishes to meet the likes of everyones' tastebuds and more char siew of course! our mornings were stuffed with fresh bread and fresh bakeries, never an overnight bun on Mrs Lee's table. That's my mummy's way of saying "i love you". It's great that your "ang mo" hubby is liked by your family. Even my grandma loves the big guy. She asked me how come he is so much taller and erm... wider... heee heee... look at the picture of them together. i just went "awwwwwwwwwwww..."

each meeting with friends were accompanied by more food. Totally typical singaporean but WE LOVE IT! Graeme is hungry ALL THE TIME when he is in Singapore. He smokes less which is wonderful and drinks less too. Well, the latter probably because it's way cheaper to drink beer in Bali!

I was making great efforts to slow down and just do what we fancy and making sure we both rest lots. I mean simple things like taking our time to have our coffee and tea in the morning and actually finding time to read newspaper page to page were great treats. Graeme liked Parkway Parade - particularly the big hardware shop he saw which means we are going back there next trip :). Parkway Parade has changed so much so much since our primary school days!

Oh if i haven't mentioned, we got graeme to the Ma Kuang clinic at Serangoon Central for an acupuncture hoping to relieve the pain from his back which has pretty much gone down to his entire right leg. That was right after we had lunch at Legends and a few beers after our ROM on friday hee hee... I would have love to take picture of all the needles sticking out from his back but it was no.1 quite R(A) - heehee and no. 2, i was struggling to understand what the acupuncturist was explaining to me. It was like "chicken and duck" talk between me and the acupuncturist. Most of the things he said to me about body parts etc pretty much went over my head. It was super "chim" chinese and i was supposed to be the intepreter! hahaa... thank god the doc was gentle and understood me more than i understood him... i really think i need to put myself back to chinese language course! the good news is that the acupuncture has helped alleviate graeme's painful back quite a bit :). He was able to party on with the the girls and i at Ice Cold beer in the evening...you know what i actually didn't had a single piece of chicken wing that night! (how did that happened jackie!)

we met dr png's mum and dad for food tasting over the week which was a lot fun! either we have grown bigger or our older folks really shrank with time. (png: graeme keeps staying your parents are TINY!) but they looked in the pink of health and it felt like we were having lunch with our very own auntie and uncle. without saying, uncle lawrence pretty much stuffed us with most of the food and dr png was really surprised when i told her that uncle lawrence kept getting more beers for graeme! i managed to hide my surprised face but definitely took note to give this piece of news to dr png :)... cons thought i put a picture for you to "see" your mum and dad :)

we ended our last night at Cranky Gal's place - YOU ARE A BRILLIANT COOK AND HOST! yummy pasta salad, soya sauce ribs, CP's help to do the chicken wings which i actually didn't get to taste again! we had apple strudels and that yummy yummy brownies jackie bought from cafe cartel. WE WERE SO STUFFED! it was like a family reunion, with the man glued to the TV watching sports channel, the womenfolk with the babies and little ones playing around with that one favourite gold coloured football! it was so loud but nice :)... like as if we are having a new year dinner or as if it's our grandma's birthday hee hee.. thank you for making it to the party everyone and understanding that i needed to space-out a bit during the week.

more pictures below... looking forward to christmas party, dr png's wedding and new year bash! hee hee

oh yes, pictures of my ROM is on my sister's camera if you are wondering!
